We would like to give a bicycle to children in Bremen whose families cannot currently afford one. To this end, we accept children's bicycles that are no longer needed, refurbish them and pass them on to the children in a roadworthy condition via daycare centers and elementary school. We are also happy to receive donated helmets, locks, bells, lights, bicycle tools and other spare parts.

Since 2025, our goal has been for every child in Bremen to have a roadworthy bicycle and to be able to cycle confidently from an early age. We believe that having their own bike strengthens their independence, promotes social integration and helps children to get more exercise. We strive to work sustainably by using used parts wherever possible. We also see cycling as an extremely important step towards climate-friendly mobility.
Who we are
We are currently a group of around 15 volunteers with different professions and skills. We are united by cycling and the desire for more social justice.
Bicycles for children in Bremen
This is how we help.
At various drop-off locations in Bremen, you can donate bicycles (as well as helmets, spare parts, and similar items).
In our workshop, we make these bicycles roadworthy and safe to use. We then distribute them through schools, daycare centers, and similar institutions to children
whose parents cannot afford a bicycle. The bicycles are donated to the respective institutions, which then lend them to the children on a long-term basis — with the idea that the bikes can later be passed on to the next children once the “first” child has outgrown the bike or leaves the institution.
This way, the bicycles remain in circulation, and we move one step closer to our goal of ensuring that every child in Bremen has a bicycle.
Collecting
We accept bicycles, bells, helmets, locks, spare parts, tools, etc. at our drop-off stations.
Repairing
Our volunteers make the bikes roadworthy and ready for use.
Sharing
The bicycles are given to children free of charge via schools and daycare centers in Bremen.

- Repair materials.
- Organizing workshops and events.
- Logistics and administrative costs.

How the collaboration works
Would “your” children be happy to receive bicycles? Then write to us. Please read the following information carefully beforehand — thank you.
If, on the other hand, you would like to offer a club/activity at your school, daycare center, etc., where socially disadvantaged children can learn to ride bicycles and therefore need bikes, we would also be happy to provide them for this purpose.
We aim to keep things straightforward and unbureaucratic, and we try to minimize the effort required on your part.
