Bremer Radmusikanten

We would like to give a bicycle to children in Bremen whose families cannot currently afford one. To this end, we accept children's bicycles that are no longer needed, refurbish them and pass them on to the children in a roadworthy condition via daycare centers and elementary school. We are also happy to receive donated helmets, locks, bells, lights, bicycle tools and other spare parts.
Giving the gift of mobility together
Our values and vision.
Since 2025, our goal has been for every child in Bremen to have a roadworthy bicycle and to be able to cycle confidently from an early age. We believe that having their own bike strengthens their independence, promotes social integration and helps children to get more exercise. We strive to work sustainably by using used parts wherever possible. We also see cycling as an extremely important step towards climate-friendly mobility.
Who we are
We are currently a group of around 15 volunteers with different professions and skills. We are united by cycling and the desire for more social justice.

Bicycles for children in Bremen
This is how we help.
You can hand in bicycles, bells, helmets, locks, spare parts etc. at various drop-off points in Bremen. We collect them there and use them to make roadworthy bicycles, which are then passed on to children via schools and daycare centers.

Collecting
We accept bicycles, bells, helmets, locks, spare parts, tools, etc. at our drop-off stations.

Repairing
Our volunteers make the bikes roadworthy and ready for use.

Sharing
The bicycles are given to children free of charge via schools and daycare centers in Bremen.

Passing on bicycles together
How the collaboration works
You work at or are involved in an elementary school or daycare center?
Would your children be happy to receive bicycles? Then write to us. We will get in touch with you to discuss further details.
As a class teacher or nursery school teacher, you can usually assess which children (in the school, year group or class) would benefit from a bicycle. We will discuss together how, when and where a collective bike handover will take place.
You work at or are involved in a secondary school?
We don't have any bikes for you, but if you can imagine setting up a bike club, self-help workshop or similar at your school, we would be delighted to work with you. We will provide you with donated bicycles, spare parts and tools; your pupils will refurbish the bicycles so that they can then be passed on to children in need. We may also be able to offer small workshops on the subject of bicycle repair.
